# allDayMaintainDuration

> FullCalendar v5 documentation, for an old release. Web version: https://legacy.fullcalendar.io/v5/allDayMaintainDuration

> Latest version (v7): https://fullcalendar.io/docs/allDayMaintainDuration.md

Determines how an event's duration changes when it's dragged between timed and all-day sections.

<div class='spec' markdown='1'>
`true` or `false` (the default)
</div>

When `true`, the duration will remain roughly the same before and after it is dragged to/from an all-day section. "Roughly" because if an event has a duration with hourly precision, it will be rounded down to the nearest whole-day.

When `false`, the default, the event's duration will be reset to [defaultAllDayEventDuration](https://legacy.fullcalendar.io/v5/defaultAllDayEventDuration.md) (probably one day) if it is being dropped in an all-day section or [defaultTimedEventDuration](https://legacy.fullcalendar.io/v5/defaultTimedEventDuration.md) (probably one hour) if it is being dropped in a timed section.
